Why Would God Do That?
There are moments and times when I look up to the heavens and say "I don't understand why You are asking this of me." There's some real spiritual growth here IF we respond to the mysterious with faith
“But I don’t understand!” How many times have I said these very words concerning something I was going through in my life? If I had a nickel for every time I said this or heard this, especially from my children, I’d be very wealthy.
Is it a hearing issue? Is it an education issue? Why don’t we understand? Frankly, I have seen situation occur where I’m not sure I want to understand.
Some horrible tragedy would happen and someone would say to me “Father, help me understand why this happened” or “I don’t understand how someone could do this. And I would respond “Good!” I don’t think situations like this are meant to be understood. There is no reason for this. It is evil or tragice or simply beyond explanation.
I find myself feeling this way when it comes to children suffering. I just don’t understand!
I really don’t understand why God does what He does, why He allows what He allows, and why He doesn’t do what I think is obvious He should do.
But that’s OK.
